INNISFAIL - For the 28th year row in a row the Innisfail RCMP wants to set the standard for generosity for the holiday season.
Local Mounties will be on Innisfail’s Main Street between 48th and 49th avenues on Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the 28th annual Charity Check Stop collecting cash, food and new clothing and toys to make Christmas joyful for citizens in need, said RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff.
He said donations will be accepted from traffic that is both eastbound and westbound.
Savinkoff said drivers of vehicles not wishing to participate may proceed through without any difficulty.
“Santa and Safety Bear are also excited to meet everyone again this year,” said Savinkoff.
Last year the event raised $14,065.70 which was donated to local charities.
“Let's continue to build on this success,” said Savinkoff.
He said this year the Innisfail RCMP will be supporting the Innisfail and District Food Bank, Innisfail Christmas Bureau and the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre.
“In this season of giving and celebrating let's provide as much help as we can to those less fortunate,” said Savinkoff. “Help donate and make this Christmas season a great one for everyone.”
Anyone with questions about the event can contact the Innisfail RCMP or Const. Craig Nelson at 403-227-3342.
