INNISFAIL -- A local teen is facing theft and possession of stolen property charges following a bust in connection to a stolen vehicle.
At about 1:30 a.m. on March 5, local RCMP were conducting patrols around town and observed several people standing around a suspicious vehicle on 52nd Avenue, said Innisfail RCMP Cpl. Meghan Bell.
When police arrived, the individuals fled using a nearby vehicle. The suspicious vehicle was determined to be stolen, said Bell.
Following an investigation, Carson Bennett Yarbrough, 18, of Innisfail, was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, possession of break-in tools, two counts of theft under $5,000 and 12 additional charges of failing to comply with a court condition.
Yarbrough has been released by a justice of the peace and is scheduled to attend Red Deer provincial court on March 27.
