INNISFAIL – The nominees are all in and the date and place is set.

The Innisfail Business Awards gala on Nov. 1 will begin 5:30 p.m. at the Innisfail Golf Club.

The event, sponsored by the Innisfail & District Chamber of Commerce, will include a dinner and wine, a presentation of seven awards and entertainment by award-winning singer and songwriter Randi Boulton.

Tickets for the event cost $59.

Jen Chabot, the chamber’s executive director, said the date for award nominations has now passed.

“And now we're just getting tickets and stuff sold for the dinner in the Club Room,” said Chabot. “There’s going to be entertainment from Randi Boulton. She is local to Innisfail, which is amazing. She is a phenomenal singer.

“I will have wine on the table so that people can have wine with their dinner,” added Chabot. “It is complimentary as part of the rate.”

This year’s seven business awards features two new ones, Home Based and Business Resiliency.

“When it comes right down to it so many people over the years had to do work from home, and it doesn't mean that they're any less of a business,” said Chabot of the new Home Based Award. “They're just doing different work from home rather than having a store front. And so to recognize those is a really good idea. We actually got quite a few nominations for that category.”

As for the new Business Resiliency Award, Chabot said it is designed to salute the perseverance of local businesses that bravely trudged through challenging times.

“Some people have had fires; some people have had different things that have caused them to really reevaluate but they stuck with it because they are such a big part of the Innisfail community,” said Chabot.  “It is a big deal, and they stayed with their companies and that is huge.”
