INNISFAIL – A joint operation between High Level and Innisfail Mounties to solve a case of thousands of dollars of missing cellphones has led to the arrest of a local woman.
Innisfail RCMP Const. Neil Reynolds said the High Level detachment received a complaint last October from a local communications provider about cellphone shipments that went missing between Edmonton and their High Level destination.
Reynolds said a probe was launched by the High Level detachment, which led investigators to Innisfail.
He said members of the Innisfail RCMP’s General Investigation Section executed a search warrant on a residence near the town’s Cannon Park area on Dec. 11.
Reynolds said about $40,000 worth of stolen cellphones were seized.
Rebecca Neustaeter, a 21-year-old Innisfail resident, who is formerly from High Level, was arrested and charged with the following:
• possession of stolen property
• possession of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking
• trafficking in stolen property
• theft over $5,000
Neustaeter was released on an appearance notice to attend Red Deer provincial court on Feb. 17.
