An Innisfail man and a female associate are facing multiple charges, including those for stolen property and drugs, following an early morning bust.
Innisfail RCMP said at about 3 a.m. on Feb. 25 police officers located a suspicious vehicle at a local gas station.
After initiating a traffic stop, RCMP officers determined the vehicle, a black Ford F-350 truck, may have been stolen.
Mounties at the scene then detained the two occupants in the vehicle, a male and a female. A further probe uncovered a loaded handgun in possession of the female, said RCMP.
Innisfail RCMP Cpl. Don Morrish said Mounties at the scene also seized a small amount of cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The detained female provided a false name to the arresting officers, and when her true identity was discovered she was found to be bound by multiple court conditions from previous charges, said Morrish.
As a result of this incident, Brittany Boyko, 26, of no fixed address, has now been additionally charged with carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a loaded restricted firearm in a vehicle, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, obstruction of a peace officer, and six counts of breach of a recognizance. Boyko was remanded to custody to appear in Red Deer provincial court last week.
Quinn Olson, 40, of Innisfail, is facing a charge of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Olson, who is not in custody, is scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court on March 22.
