The Town of Innisfail is going to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season with its brilliant "Light Up Innisfail" display at a kickoff party on Dec. 4.

Starting at 5 p.m., or shortly thereafter, Bankers Corner in downtown Innisfail will be the gathering place for Innisfailians of all ages for the unveiling and lighting up of the Innisfail Parks and Recreation light display. In addition to the glitter, the family friendly evening will include Christmas carolling led by Tom LIndl, Christmas treats from Nummies by Mummies, and hot chocolate served throughout the night.

"We are excited to invite all Innisfailians to the heart of downtown and celebrate as a community, the lighting of the lights and the official beginning of Christmas in Innisfail," said Surina Carloni, the town's marketing and social media coordinator.

Downtown businesses will be starting late night shopping and an "ugly sweater" contest will be held, with discounts going to wearers of the least attractive sweaters. In addition, judging will be held for best decorated downtown business with prizes yet to be determined.

"It will be a great night to warm your heart with Christmas cheer, and to be part of the first lighting ceremony in the heart of downtown Innisfail," said Carloni.
