INNISFAIL - Hundreds of citizens from Innisfail and across Central Alberta came to Centennial Park on the afternoon of June 30 and stayed to nearly midnight to celebrate Canada's 152nd birthday.
The third annual event at Centennial Park featured skydivers from Alberta Skydive Central, non-stop entertainment, beer gardens, childrens' activities, cultural performances and plenty of good cheer. The celebration was capped off with a spectacular 15-minute fireworks display.
The Innisfail and District Historical Village will be open today ( July 1) to welcome visitors for festivities and Canada Day fun.
The day begins with a pancake breakfast, hosted by the Rotary Club of Innisfail, from 9 to 11 a.m. There will be many other events that will run from noon to 5 p.m., including lawn games, bouncy castle, and kids crafts. Food will be provided by the Innisfail Phil-Can Society. The day will finish with the Innisfail Legion Pipe Band and Colour Party and birthday cake.
The Town of Penhold will be hosting its own Canada Day celebration on July 1 at the Lincoln Street Rec Centre. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include a variety of activities for the entire family, such as face painting, bouncy castles, games and a barbecue.
