INNISFAIL – The Innisfail and area community continues to give the local food bank plenty of love during these challenging times.
On June 1, Paul's NOFRILLS Innisfail stepped up again to support the Innisfail and Area Food Bank.
Store owner Paul Begg presented Heather Taylor, food bank co-coordinator, with a cheque for $1,500; money that will go a long way to help the vulnerable in the community.
Taylor said she did not see the welcome generosity coming.
“They just out of the blue asked if I would be available to accept a cheque from Paul at NOFRILLS. I said, ‘I will, absolutely.’ Paul just said that's just something he wants to do,” said Taylor, adding Begg and his dedicated staff have been consistently generous to her agency. “I mean he’s given us roasts. He's given us ribs. Sometimes it’s cereals.
“He's given us something fairly large every week,” added Taylor. “It just depends on what he's got extra hanging around and he just donates it to the food bank.”
And there is more coming for the agency.
On June 27, Taylor will be receiving a large donation from the Kneehill Valley 4-H Beef Club.
The club held its 2024 Charity Steer Auction last month during its annual Achievement Day.
Members decided to donate all the proceeds to the Innisfail and Area Food Bank.
The club is presenting a cheque to Taylor on June 27 at the Kneehill Valley Community Centre during its year-end banquet and awards ceremony.
