INNISFAIL – Forty-two years after it first opened, Johns Manville continues to make a difference in the community.
Johns Manville is the 2019 Business of the Year recipient. The award was announced Oct. 18 at the annual Community $ Business Awards Gala.
“It means a lot. We love Innisfail, we’re proud of the community and it means a lot to us,” said Kathy Dilone, an employee in the finance department.
Over the past 42 years Johns Manville has been recognized as one of the leading insulation manufacturers in Canada and was awarded for its safety and exemplary business performance in 2018.
“I think it’s important to be part of the community and to contribute,” said Dilone.
Every year many of the company’s 208 employee’s give back to the Innisfail community through several local projects and events, including its annual Christmas dinner, donations to the Christmas Bureau and the Innisfail and District Food Bank, as well as participation in Community Involvement Day.
Long time employee J.J. Beaton said he and his fellow workers enjoy making a difference in the community.
“We contribute to everything (like) hockey and baseball,” said Beaton. “Johns Manville employees give out and donate to everything and anything.”
Dilone said part of the company’s success can be attributed to its dedication to Innisfail and its residents.
“We’re part of the community. Innisfail is who we are,” said Dilone. “We have employees that care and we have a strong work ethic. We work as a team and care about our neighbour.”
