Tammy Noete, president of the Kinette Club of Innisfail, is proud the local service group held its annual dinner on Oct. 22 for the 38th year in a row. About 325 tickets at $50 each were sold this year for the event at the Innisfail Royal Canadian Legion.

INNISFAIL - Hundreds of women packed the Innisfail Royal Canadian Legion auditorium on Oct. 22 for the Kinette Club of Innisfail's 38th annual Dinner of Diamonds.

The annual event, which attracted 325 local women this year at $50 a ticket, is the service club's major fundraiser for the year, as well as a celebration of fellowship for its many volunteers. Along with the dinner, the evening featured entertainment, 70 door prizes and the giveaway of 25 diamond rings to guests.

“We have been doing it for a long time in the community and the community comes out,” said Tammy Noete, second-year president for the local Kinette club and a member for the past 13 years. “It's a women's fellowship kind of group, so the ladies like to come out and support it just like Big Brothers Big Sisters.”

Final fundraising totals from the event were not available but Noete said all money raised by the non-profit service club goes back into the community.

She said the Kinettes have in the past supported local groups and events, such as last year's novice girls' provincial hockey tournament, Innisfail and District Food Bank, Christmas Bureau, local schools and breakfast programs.

“Those (programs) are year to year. We do them every year for the community. Everything goes back into the community,”

“We already have a list of donations that have been requested from us and we will go through them and see where we can give the funds,” added Noete of the Kinette's committed future service for the town. “We love how the community comes out to support us so we can give back to them.”
