PENHOLD – Ladies looking for a fun day out filled with laughter, learning and self-care can throw the Town of Penhold’s upcoming Women’s Day Out event on their calendar.

"It’s just a day for women, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, to get out and have some time to connect with each other,” said Jamie Seiyama, the town’s family resource co-ordinator.

The event is scheduled for March 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Penhold Memorial Hall.

The tickets cost $20 each and include the whole day’s events, plus lunch, snacks and door prizes. The tickets are more expensive than the $10 charged last year, but that’s to help cover some of the resource costs, Seiyama said.

This is the second iteration of the re-formatted Women’s Day Out event. The first was held last March after a few years’ hiatus. The previous events were a bigger conference format, whereas the 2017 version and the upcoming day are on a smaller scale.

Last year’s event had about 40 people register.

"From our surveys, all our feedback was positive,” Seiyama said. This year they’re opening 60 spots for people to register.

"There’s speakers, there’s presentations, there’s active, fun things to do. We’ll be doing a craft; there will be lunch,” Seiyama said.

Activities include things like a craft, self-defence and laughter yoga, plus some presentations on topics like time management. A speaker had been scheduled on the concept of personality colours but they have cancelled. Seiyama said they’ll be finding another speaker to fill the spot.

The event is held in March in part because it’s the month of International Women’s Day.

To register for the event, call or visit the town office or book via the town’s website.
