INNISFAIL - A six-month RCMP investigation into an armed robbery at the Fox & Hound sports bar has resulted in multiple charges laid against a Central Alberta man.

In a media release issued April 17, Innisfail RCMP said the charges in connection to the Oct. 5, 2017 armed robbery were laid against the suspect while he was incarcerated on unrelated criminal matters.

"That's all we know is that he is from Central Alberta. He is currently in custody on other matters. I do not know what those charges were for but our investigation identified him. At the time we had sufficient information to lay these (robbery) charges," said Innisfail RCMP Staff Sgt. Chris Matechuk, adding the detachment put in extra resources to solve the crime. "Our GIS (General Investigation Section) investigator worked on it for quite a while, plus other resources. It was a lengthy investigation to get to this point, yes."

Innisfail RCMP were called to the Fox & Hound at about 11 p.m. last Oct. 5 after receiving a 911 call about  an armed robbery in progress with shots fired.

Matechuk said the suspects fled the area in a getaway vehicle with stolen cash from the bar and were not located at the time.

The getaway vehicle was discovered parked and vacant hours later by police, said Matechuk. He said evidence collected at the scene and in the getaway vehicle were both linked to the accused.

Matechuk said RCMP are still on the hunt for two other suspects.

"The investigation is ongoing as a second male robber and person believed to be a female driving the getaway vehicle have yet to be identified," said Matechuk.

In the meantime, Kyle Zachery Hosli-Rombough, 25, is facing 15 Criminal Code charges, including robbery with a firearm, three counts of pointing a firearm, unlawfully discharging a firearm,  disguise with intent, two counts of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited by court order, use of a firearm while committing an offence, careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.

Hosli-Rombough, who is currently in custody on unrelated matters, is making his first court appearance on the Fox & Hound robbery charges on May 16 in Red Deer provincial court.

Any citizen who has any information about the Oct. 5 robbery at the Fox & Hound, including the identity of the other two suspects, is asked to contact Innisfail RCMP at 403-227-8514 or Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or by Internet at www.tipsubmit.com
