INNISFAIL – There will soon be plenty of high healed toe-tapping country rockin’ at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #104 in Innisfail.
Totally Twain is coming to town.
Described as a “tribute act” to Canadian superstar Shania Twain, the band for the Totally Twain show is laying claim to being western Canada’s only Shania tribute act “at this time.
“We’re really making hay while the sun shines,” said Vancouver-based singer Michelle Reid.
Totally Twain is set to go at the Innisfail Royal Canadian Legion Branch #104 on April 20.
Cocktails and dinner start at 5 p.m. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. with two one-hour sets and a 30-minute intermission between.
Reid, a performer for more than 35 years, said her band includes husband Wally Kozakow on bass, brother Steve Goodall on guitar, and Kevan VanKeith on drums.
She said the band will play about 25 Shania Twain hits from four of the star’s albums.
And the show will also include six costumer changes.
“It’s very Vegas style. We have fun. It’s interactive and high energy. We almost always have a dance floor and its usually packed,” said Reid. “With Shania being so universal the show appeals to all ages. We can get anywhere from 18 to 80 in ages. We just played Ranchmen's in Calgary and sold it out with 800 plus people.”
She emphasized much thought has been put into the show from beginning to end, with it having a distinct west coast feel.
Reid said the first and last songs have been written by the band.
The show opens with the The Rain Song, which she added is appropriate for B.C. The closing song is called The Whale Song.
“If you know about Shania’s show in Vegas, she starts with a song called Blue Storm, and it ends with a song called Red Storm,” said Reid. “So, we have taken her Las Vegas 2015 show and added our own west coast spin to it.”
Although Reid and her band have played legions before they have never played or even been to Innisfail.
“This will be our third show in Alberta this week,” she said of her current tour. “If I am going to say something to Innisfail I will say come on out because if you don’t come out and experience it you’re going to hear about it after the fact.”
