Motorcyclist killed in two-vehicle crash

RCMP is continuing its investigation into a two-vehicle highway crash on June 28 that claimed the life a motorcycle driver.

RED DEER COUNTY – Innisfail RCMP is investigating a two-vehicle collision at a regional highway intersection that claimed the life of a motorcycle driver.

Cpl. Jon Cormier, a spokesperson for the RCMP, said the accident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on June 28 at the intersection of highways 42 and 2.

He said a preliminary investigation revealed a motorcycle was travelling eastbound on Highway 42 and made contact with a pickup truck pulling a camper trailer travelling westbound on Highway 42 that was turning south to merge onto Highway 2.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene, Cormier.

He said the driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

Innisfail RCMP, along with a RCMP collision analyst, continue to investigate. Cormier said Highway 42 was closed for about two and half hours.

The name of the deceased will not be released pending next of kin notification.
