INNISFAIL – Mounties have nabbed a trio of suspects in connection to an Innisfail burglary last fall that resulted in the theft of antique coins and paper currency.
Innisfail RCMP Staff Sgt. Chris Matechuk said in a news release that Mounties were called to respond to a break-in at a local Main Street-area antique store on Nov. 18 of last year.
Matechuk said a collection of antique coins and paper currency was stolen that was on consignment at the victimized business.
He said on Nov. 30, the detachment’s Innisfail General Investigation Section recovered a quantity of the stolen currency during an unrelated investigation.
Three alleged area offenders, who are all remanded into custody on other matters, have been charged with one count of possession of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking. They include Jordan Glasgow, 21, of Penhold; Casey Laprice, 33, of Innisfail; and Amber Parfitt, 37, of Olds.
Matechuk said the reason for releasing information about the trio’s arrests close to two months after the break-in was due to a separate gun seizure investigation in late 2021 that ultimately linked the three suspects to the “continuing work” on the burglary file.
He all three accused are “absolutely” known by local RCMP. Matechuk said the trio’s first appearance on these charges is set for Jan. 28 in Red Deer provincial court.
