Mounties reach out to the community with a barbecue

The Innisfail RCMP, jointed by other emergency service groups from the town and area, hosted its annual barbecue on May 24 in the parking lot of the Innisfail Co-op grocery store.

INNISFAIL - The Innisfail RCMP hosted its annual lunch hour community barbecue Friday (May 24) in the parking lot of the Innisfail Co-op grocery store.

Citizens were invited for free hamburgers, hotdogs and cold drinks, and to meet and talk to local police officers. The event was held In recognition of Crime Prevention Week.

Along with local RCMP officers at the community event there was also Safety Bear, Innisfail and Penhold community peace officers, victim's services advocates, Innisfail Restorative Justice volunteers and members of the Innisfail Fire Department.

Innisfail RCMP are inviting citizens to come down to the detachment office at 4904 - 45 Ave. to pick up a 2019-2020 community engagement form. The intent of the form is to find out what safety and policing  issues are of concern to the citizens of the community. Comments from Innisfailians are forming part of an ongoing discussion around community policing and safety priorities.
