Alberta volunteers contribute over 250 million hours to the provincial economy every year — the equivalent of 176,000 full-time jobs, or upwards of $8 billion. That’s more than two per cent of Alberta’s GDP in unpaid, volunteer human resources.
“National Volunteer Week is our opportunity to recognize the immense value volunteers bring to our province and across the country. It is difficult to imagine how our communities and social structures would function without the generosity of those who offer their time and skills,” said
Katherine Topolniski, creative director of Volunteer Alberta.
Grant funding for National Volunteer Week is provided by the Government of Alberta and distributed by Volunteer Alberta.
