The Cool Crafts Girls Club is a local club, under the umbrella organization of Women's Institute, which promotes personal development, the family and the community. Our club has ten members and meets five times throughout the year, from October until April. Our meetings are open to all girls between the ages of six and sixteen. We meet at Cottonwood ñGordon hall and our leaders are Mona Blain, Leona Marshall and Val Layden
Our meetings consist of public speaking through a Round Table talk, making crafts and preparing our lunch. Our Round Table topics have been "What would I Like to Change?" and "Who do I Admire?" Some examples of our crafts this year include carving pumpkins, making rock candy and decorating a piggy bank. This year our Cup Challenge craft is knitting a scarf.
Events we have participated in this year are helping the WI organization with their fall supper, a bake sale at the Cottonwood Gordon Hall and then a second bake sale at the Innisfail Co-op.
We end our year with a weekend windup at a camp.
Our next meeting is March 19. New members are always welcome. The contact phone number is 403-227-6059.
