Here’s what has happened since my last article. We had a bottle drive in December and would like to thank all those people who gave us bottles. This bottle drive was a great success. We had lots of fun and ended the day with pizza at Boston Pizza in Innisfail.

At our January and February meetings we discussed our Regional theme, riding clinics we hope to set up in the spring and of course public speaking. We are planning on doing a mock achievement day clinic and possibly a polo cross clinic. We are also planning on having an equine chiropractor come and teach us some really good stretches and exercises to keep our horses feeling good. We are also planning another bottle drive in the spring because we would really like to get club jackets.

We had our club speak-offs on Feb. 9 at the Spruce View Drop-in Center. Thank you to all the judges who came out to judge our speak-offs. Thank you also to Joanne Nicol for acting as our Master of Ceremonies. You did a really good job. The results of the speak-offs are as follows: Juniors – (1.) Leslee Leischner, Intermediates – (1.) Kaylee Leischner (2.) Shelby Job, (3.) Mandy Bunney Seniors – (1.) Shelby Leischner, (2.) Shania Johnson (3.) Lee Bunney.

After the speak-offs we had a great visit and a yummy meal. Now it is off to zones on Feb. 26 for our first and second place winners.

We are meeting again on Wednesday, Feb. 16 to make decorations for regionals and do some dismounted skills work.

Our next regular meeting is March 2 at Shania’s house.

Seven ladies attended the February meeting of the Aberdeen Welfare Workers. It was held at the home of Lorraine and Vern Martin. Roll call was answered with something pertaining to Valentine's Day. There were some very beautiful Valentine cards given out.

We have been asked to supply lunch and serve it at Autumn Glen Lodge's September 7 Friendship Club evening. We decided we could.

The only correspondence we received was the usual appeal from the Salvation Army. We decided to donate $20 to the Heart and Stroke Foundation which is our usual donation for February.

Doris Whitehead volunteered to supply lunch and work at the February Poplar Grove Bingo afternoon. Lorraine Martin volunteered to assist her.

Karen Swanson presented LaVerne Campbell with her birthday gift. We all sang Happy Birthday to her.

I was the recipient of Lorraine Martin's calendar gift.

Roberta Armstrong invited us to her home for the March meeting when roll call will be something pertaining to St. Patrick's Day.

Congratulations to Betty Hobbs for being the recipient of the Alice Hoar Memorial Award from the curling club recently.
