The Town of Penhold has got a new municipal enforcement officer on the bylaw beat.
“It's been a good experience so far,” said Tracey Krenn. Krenn started working with the Town of Penhold on June 6.
The new part-time officer will be focusing her efforts on municipal bylaws like the Community Standards Bylaw, though she'll also have an eye out for other infractions.
Krenn, 38, has about four years of experience as a peace officer. Most recently she worked for the City of Red Deer, and before that she was in Kelowna, B.C.
She also has three and a half years as an auxiliary constable for the RCMP under her belt. Auxiliary constables are volunteers.
Krenn likes what she's seen of the Penhold system so far.
“Penhold is with the times,” she said, adding there's some good technology and good processes available to the officers in Penhold.
She enjoys a few different things about her job.
“I like the flexibility. I like the challenge,” she said.
In addition to her experience with municipal enforcement, Krenn has a diploma in natural resource science and is currently taking courses through the University of Alberta in land use planning. She said she's able to apply that education to her work.
Dana Jones, a community peace officer for the Town of Penhold, said expanding her department will help increase coverage for Penhold.
Krenn is a good fit because of her education and experience, Jones said.
“A valuable asset for the Town of Penhold and the department,” Jones said of Krenn.
