Former Sundre River Valley School principal Allan Tarnoczi has been elected chairman of the Chinook’s Edge School Division.
Board elections were held during the annual organizational meeting in Innisfail on Sept. 11.
Tarnoczi replaces long-term chair Colleen Butler, who held the chair position for the past nine years.
Butler was elected vice chair, while Holly Bilton was elected second vice chair. Butler announced earlier that she would not be seeking re-election as chair.
“I believe that unity is our defining strength as a board, and I believe this serves our division and our students well,” Tarnoczi said in a press release.
“I am looking forward to continuing our governance journey together as board chair, and I would like to thank Colleen Butler for her many years of strong leadership on our board. I know that strong learning programs are key to creating thriving rural communities.”
