Penhold fugitive nabbed for stolen vehicle

RCMP have nabbed a fugitive Penhold man for allegedly being in possession of a stolen vehicle. During the early morning hours of Jan. 19, Red Deer city RCMP stopped a vehicle in the city's 59 Avenue area, south of 67 Street.

During the early morning hours of Jan. 19, Red Deer city RCMP stopped a vehicle in the city's 59 Avenue area, south of 67 Street. The male driver fled the scene while the female passenger, who was wanted on warrants, was arrested.

Red Deer city RCMP and Police Dog Services attended to search for the male, who was located several hours later at a residence in the Normandeau neighbourhood.

Darren Christopher Ray, 33, of Penhold, was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, escape from lawful custody, and failing to comply with a recognizance.

He will appear in Red Deer provincial court on Feb. 17 for election and plea.

Kierra Mercedes Saddleback, 19, of Red Deer was wanted on several warrants, most of which have since been dealt with by the courts. She has one outstanding charge from a previous incident, assault with a weapon, which she spoke to in Red Deer provincial court last week.
