The Phil-Can Neighbourhood Association of Innisfail is hosting its annual Multicultural Diner Dance Party For a Cause this weekend at the Innisfail Royal Canadian Legion.

"There are lots of things to do, (anyone) going will enjoy the night and especially our food," said Grace Gresos, chair of the association. "The legion has graciously donated the use of their facilities for the event. They are very supportive of us, we are very lucky."

The April 22 event is a fundraiser for the Innisfail and District Food Bank. In past years the annual dance party for a cause has benefited Big Brothers Big Sisters of Prairies to Peaks, St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic School, the Seniors Drop-In Centre, and the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

In 2016 the event sold about 200 tickets and the association is expecting similar numbers to attend this year.

Last year the event raised about $3,000, split evenly between Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Seniors Drop-In Centre.

Tickets cost $25 for adults and $10 for anyone under the age of 10. They are available through the Phil-Can association or at the door.

The legion doors open at 5 p.m. on April 22 with activities and a dinner starting at 6 p.m. The night's festivities also include a cash bar, games, prizes and a silent action.
