PHOTO: COPA's big show begins for Innisfail and area

INNISFAIL - About 300 small plane pilots and family members registered this morning (June 6) at Big Bend Airport for the start of the western portion of the 2019 Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) convention.

Shane Cockriell, president of the Innisfail Flying Club (left), and John Mulder, a member of the flying club and chief tow pilot for the Central Alberta Gliding Club, were on hand to welcome visitors and guests from throughout the region and from across western Canada.

The three-day event will take place from June 6 to 8, officially ending with a banquet during the evening of June 8.

The convention is the first time it has been held at Big Bend Airport, located 11 kilometres northwest of town along Highway 54.
