Penhold fire crews were called to a vehicle fire on the west side of the train tracks in Penhold, in the early morning hours, just after 5 a.m. on July 13.
Firefighters arrived to find a fully involved vehicle with no occupants around.
“We had the fire under control very quickly and made sure there was no extension to grass or trees,” said Penhold fire lieutenant Mackenzie Johnston. “We checked the area to make sure there were no injuries and used a thermal imaging camera to make sure the fire was out.”
Penhold fire chief Jim Pendergast said RCMP are now looking into the incident.
“The car is a total loss and the investigation has been turned over to the RCMP,” said Pendergast.
There were no injuries reported. Three fire units and 11 firefighters responded to the vehicle fire.
