Domestic assault
A woman is facing charges after an alleged domestic assault occurred in the early morning hours of April 23.
Cpl. Jeff Hildebrandt said the victim required seven stitches for a facial laceration as a result of the incident, which occurred within Innisfail.
Impaired arrest
Hildebrandt spotted an impaired driver while off duty one evening between April 19 and 26.
Hildebrandt said he was heading north on the QEII on Antler Hill when he noticed a driver exhibiting poor driving patterns. He alerted the on-duty Innisfail RCMP who caught up with the driver on Highway 42.
The driver was charged with impaired driving and refusal to provide a breath sample.
Hildebrandt said two other sets of impaired driving charges were laid against other individuals in different incidents throughout the week.
Counterfeit warning
Innisfail RCMP are reminding local vendors to be careful when it comes to checking their bills.
Hildebrandt said that police were contacted by No Frills early last week after a counterfeit $10 bill was discovered.
“We're always concerned when that stuff shows up around town,” Hildebrandt said. “We want people to be careful.”
“Feel is the biggest thing,” Hildebrandt said when it comes to noticing the funny money. He pointed out new polymer bills are being introduced that have many anti-counterfeit design features.
May long weekend
The Innisfail RCMP are getting ready for what's normally a busy long weekend.
“We're already prepping for May long weekend,” Hildebrandt said. The plan is to have a full staff of officers on hand.
“(We're) making preparations for a solid police presence at the lakes,” Hildebrandt said.
