Arson charge laid
A 19-year-old Innisfail man has been charged with arson after a truck was set on fire on April 30 near 49 Street.
Police responded to a call at approximately 11:30 p.m. that night about the fire. The truck was parked behind 20/20 Auto Service,
“The cab was completely engulfed in flames,” Cpl. A.J. Mand said. Mand said witnesses saw three men near the scene. One was located, questioned and charged.
Nathan Kyle Pixley has been charged with arson and is due in Red Deer provincial court on May 11.
Marijuana possession
The Innisfail Integrated Traffic Unit ended up catching someone in possession of one ounce of pot after a driver was pulled over because of an odd driving pattern.
On-duty officers stopped the vehicle on the QEII between 4 and 5 p.m. on April 27 because the car had been driving on the fog line.
During a search of the vehicle one ounce of pot was found. A 40-year-old male from Falkland, B.C., has been charged with drug possession.
Prison assault
Police are investigating an incident between two inmates at the Bowden Institution.
Innisfail RCMP were called to the prison on April 27 after one inmate allegedly punched another inmate in the face.
Cpl. Mand said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Break and enter
Two refrigeration compressors and some tools are missing after a break and enter at a property on Rge. Rd. 245 was reported on April 30.
There is no information on how entry was gained into Camp BB Riback.
Impaired driver
A 50-year-old Innisfail man was charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit after being pulled over on April 29 at around 9:30 p.m.
An officer patrolling the 42 Avenue area of Innisfail spotted the car and the “subject just about hit the police car,” Mand said.
The driver failed a breath test and was taken back to the detachment.
Mischief roundup
Several mischief incidents were reported on April 26.
A window at the Innisfail Library/Learning Centre was vandalized and reported on April 26.
Graffiti was put on the side of a building on 50 Avenue, a building on 56 Street, the bus barn at Dodd's Lake and a Rotary Club sign on 50 Street.
On April 29, a GMC truck was egged between 10 p.m. the night before and the morning. The truck was parked in the 42 Street area.
On May 2, two mischief incidents were reported.
Graffiti was reported on a building on 39 Street Crescent.
The second incident happened overnight in a rural location on Rge. Rd. 284. Someone entered and drove a CAT dozer through a construction school, causing damage within the school.
Vehicle stolen
A grey 2005 Honda Civic was stolen from the 50 Street area.
The car was reported stolen on April 26 after the owner discovered it missing at 6 a.m.
