INNISFAIL – For close to two decades Specialty Automotive Repairs in Innisfail has provided the best to its customers.

That quality work was recognized when it was chosen as the 2018 Business of the Year winner during the annual Community and Business Awards Gala on Oct. 12.

“It’s truly an honour. It’s something we’ve been striving for for years,” said Phil Emke, shop foreman.

Owner Kevin Massignan first opened the automotive business in 1999.

Emke accepted the award on behalf of the business, and said a key priority for them has always been customer service.

“Giving the customer what they need, not upselling anything, and getting them back on the road with a quality repair that’s affordable and done right the first time,” he said. “We strive to please our customers.”

Since opening almost 20 years ago they’ve provided general automotive repairs, hi-performance tune-ups and engine building for gas, diesel and propane vehicles, he said.

“I love the satisfaction of completing a job and making a customer happy,” said Emke. “Or getting a hot rod built for them that puts a smile on their face.”

He added it is great to see the town and its residents recognize local businesses for their quality work and the difference they make in the community.

“Without the support from the town we wouldn’t be where we are today. Automotive shops come and go, mechanics come and go but we thrive to be who we are,” said Emke.

“It’s not just the committee, it’s the entire town of Innisfail. They made us who we are.”
