INNISFAIL – Local Mounties have charged a man for breaking into a rural lease site southeast of Penhold.
Innisfail RCMP said police officers responded to a call of a break-in on Nov. 19. RCMP said the complainant was able to provide a good description of the suspect vehicle and male person observed on the property.
Mounties attended and observed a vehicle and male matching the description. The male was seen walking toward the truck carrying a bag. RCMP ordered the male to stop but he ran from the scene and hid for a short period of time. The suspect was eventually located and arrested without incident.
RCMP have identified the suspect as 20-year-old Jonathan James Scott of no fixed address. Scott has been formally charged with break and enter, possession of break-in tools, breach of a probation order and possession of stolen property exceeding $5,000.
He was brought before a justice of the peace and released on a recognizance to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Nov. 29.
