INNISFAIL - A Wainwright man is facing drunk driving charges after being followed by Innisfail RCMP along Highway 2.

At about 1:30 p.m. on March 2 Blackfalds and Innisfail RCMP received a complaint of an erratic driver southbound on Highway 2 near Innisfail. The vehicle was driving at erratic speeds and driving shoulder to shoulder, said Innisfail RCMP Cpl. Jason Simpson.

He said Innisfail RCMP located the vehicle near town on Highway 2, and the driver was arrested for impaired driving.

Simpson said a 46-year-old Wainwright male blew three times the legal limit. The male is facing charges of impaired driving and driving while over .08 of the Criminal Code.

Huge haul of stolen property seized

RCMP have uncovered tens of thousands of dollars' worth of stolen property on a rural property.

On Feb. 22 Blackfalds RCMP attended a property south of Gasoline Alley, and located stolen property worth an estimated $100,000.

The stolen property included a 2003 Ford F-350 truck maroon in colour, a black 2011 Ford F-350 dually, 2007 Polaris Outlaw 525 white quad, a red 2015 Polaris Pro RMK snow machine, 2011 Xmoto x37 red dirt bike, a blue Polaris snow machine, a Husqvarna Ranger 455 chainsaw, a Stihl chainsaw, Honda 2000 generator, Makita air compressor, trailer with a welding trail blazer welder/generator, a red Yamaha YZFR1 motorcycle and a white Yamaha dirt bike.

Blackfalds RCMP Cpl. Jason McFarlane said the police recovery was a

"self-generated" file by detachment members following up on a suspicious vehicle at the rural property.

"This tip was the result of vigilant Rural Crime Watch members and the public," he said. McFarlane said the file is still under investigation and no charges have yet been laid.

He said most of the property owners have been identified.

If any citizen has any information about the thefts he or she is asked to contact the Blackfalds RCMP at 403-885-3300 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
