PINE LAKE – Mounties are on the hunt for suspects in connection to an early morning break and enter this week at the Ghost Pine General Store.

Innisfail RCMP Staff Sgt. Chris Matechuk said the break-in occurred at 5:03 a.m. on Jan. 27.

“We got the call immediately after it happened,” said Matechuk. When police arrived at the general store and Fas Gas station, located near the intersection of highways 42 and 816, about 27 kilometres east of Penhold and 40 kilometres northeast of Innisfail, they discovered debris outside on the ground and inside the store, with its door open.

Matechuk said items were stolen from the break-in but declined to be specific as the probe into the crime is continuing.

“We can’t say anything yet,” said Matechuk, adding no one was in the store at the time of the break-in.

He said the rural store has not been recently victimized but has been a break and enter target in the past.

Matechuk said RCMP have identified suspects and the incident is still under investigation.
