RED DEER COUNTY – Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a fog advisory Sunday morning for Red Deer County and urban centres near it.

“Near zero visibility in fog will continue this morning. The fog may break up through the day but is expected to redevelop this evening in most areas,” the federal agency’s 4:40 a.m. Dec. 22 alert for the area said. “There will also be a risk of freezing drizzle in these areas which may lead to slippery conditions.”

A fog advisory is issued when low visibilities in fog are expected for at least six hours.

The advisory was issued for the following area:

• Red Deer County near Innisfail, Bowden Penhold, Elnora, Lousana, Delburne, Spruce View, Pine Lake, Red Lodge Provincial Park and Sylvan Lake.

The advisory also extends to much of central and northern Alberta as well as eastern parts of southern Alberta

If travelling, the federal agency advised to be prepared for slippery conditions and areas of near-zero visibility.

“Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero.”
