A young Red Deer man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death offences in connection to a single-vehicle crash on Canada Day that killed a Penhold male teen and a female teenager from Springbrook.

At the time of the crash Blackfalds RCMP said detachment members were dispatched to the scene, reportedly at around midnight at the intersection of Rge. Rd. 261 and Highway 595, with the assistance of Red Deer County Fire Department members and EMS.

It was determined by RCMP that two occupants in the motor vehicle were ejected and passed away on scene. The RCMP, which issued its latest release on the tragedy last week, has never officially released the names of the deceased teens – an 18-year-old male from Penhold and a 16-year-old female from Springbrook

Two other occupants were treated on scene and transported by ground to Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre with serious injuries. A fifth occupant was not ejected from the vehicle, was treated and then taken to Red Deer hospital and released a short time later.

RCMP has charged Dylan Beauclair,18, of Red Deer, with two counts of dangerous driving causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

Beauclair was released from custody on his own recognizance with a number of conditions. He is scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court in November of this year.
