The first Legion Hall (or Memorial Hall as it was known then) was built across from the Provincial Building in 1920.

It was constructed of brick manufactured in the local brickyard. The basement was dug by horse-drawn fresnos (earth scrapers) as well as labour provided by First World War veterans.

After the completion of Memorial Hall members went on to build the cenotaph. The official unveiling was on Thanksgiving Day, Oct. 24, 1935.

The mortgage on the Memorial Hall was burned in a special ceremony in November of 1937 during the Veterans Banquet.

In the late 1960s debate on a new building for the legion was on the agenda at every meeting. The expense of a modern facility was the concern.

Finally land was purchased from Jackson's Independent Creamery and construction of the new Legion Hall got underway, with the new facility opening in the spring of 1972.

The new building consisted of two levels, with an auditorium upstairs and clubroom and games room downstairs.

In 1981 the building was extended on both floors. However, three months later a fire of unknown origin completely destroyed the building.

One month later a temporary facility was opened in the Eastgate Mall.

Construction of a new 16,000-square-foot facility and Dodds Lake Manor (a 32-unit senior citizens' housing project) went hand in hand, and on May 15, 1982 one ceremony officially opened the two facilities.
