INNISFAIL - Town council has selected the professional search firm to find a new chief administrative officer for the community.

At council's regular meeting on Feb. 13, it was announced that six proposals from professional services were received to replace outgoing CAO Helen Dietz, who announced last December she is retiring as of July 1. A report to council said the search and selection process was initiated and directed by council, which will remain the main point of contact throughout the process.

Coun. Heather Taylor said the process was narrowed down to three companies. References were checked and then shared with the rest of council, she said.

Council was told Ravenhill Group Inc. was approved by council at a cost of $21,000, which will be funded from the town's 2017 Operating Contingency account.

"I guess Ravenhill came out on top. One of the main reasons I would say is that they have done the most hirings of CAOs in Alberta recently," Taylor told council.

Mayor Brian Spiller said in a followup media release that every effort would be made that the "absolute" right candidate will be selected for the CAO position.
