The 100-foot shootout on 42nd Street near the Arena returns to this year’s Weekend of Wheels.

INNISFAIL - An exciting and key part of the Innisfail Kinsmen and Kinettes Weekend of Wheels is the 100-foot shootout held on Sunday (Sept. 9) in front of the Arena. This is your annual opportunity to legally race your vehicle on an Innisfail street!

If a 100-foot shootout is new to you, it is a variation on the quarter mile drag race. Participants will run side by side along 42nd Street over a distance of 100 feet. Electronic timing equipment will measure reaction time, speed and the winner of each race.

To make the event competitive for the drivers and exciting for the crowd, vehicles will be grouped into classes based on average qualifying times. This will keep the races close and the drivers on their toes as only the winner will move forward. Each class will progress until a champion is crowned.

Bleachers (even more than last year) will be set up on the grass along 42nd Street for spectators to view the races. For safety and insurance reasons, viewing of the event will be limited to the bleacher area only. This continues to be a fun and inexpensive family event as admission is only $5 each with accompanied children under 12 getting in free. Participant registration is only $25 per vehicle. All proceeds will go to the Innisfail Skatepark project.

Tech inspection and qualifying begins around 9 a.m., with races scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. We hope to see you all out!
