This year marks the 10th year for Santa’s Sleigh of Surprises, a Chamber of Commerce tradition.
“It’s a shop local program,” explained Jane Duncalfe, exec for the chamber. Kicking off Nov. 23 and running until Dec. 20, the program encourages people to stop in at local stores and enter their names for weekly draws.
The event averages 35,000 entrants a year, said Duncalfe. “It’s an awesome program,” she said of keeping shopping local.
Every time shoppers visit a participating business, they can fill out their name for a chance to win one of six prices. The first three weeks, $125 in chamber bucks will be awarded. The draw dates are Nov. 29, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13. The money can be spent at the participating businesses.
On Dec. 20, three gift packages are drawn.
“We have a bronze, silver and gold package and each one is worth a little bit more than the other one … there’s a ton of prizes drawn — it’s like having Christmas before Christmas,” she said.
