INNISFAIL – It’s a night that brings the community, people and organizations together.

Innisfail’s Fall Registration Night is taking place at the Innisfail Arena from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 10.

“We have the facility, the opportunity and the resources to bring everybody together under one banner, not charge anything for the tables and just have people come out, show off what they're doing, answer some questions and meet some people,” said Kane Williams, recreation program coordinator with the Town of Innisfail.

Close to 50 groups from Innisfail and the surrounding area are expected to participate in the Fall Registration Night, which will feature everything including sports teams, cultural and artistic activities, various clubs and events, church organizations as well as several non-profit groups and causes.

“Right now (we have) 48 different organizations that want to come out and be a part of it,” said Williams, noting the event is a great opportunity to meet local clubs and organizations, ask questions and learn more about what’s happening in Innisfail and the surrounding area.

“There will be a lot of things that are local to Innisfail but also, there will be some groups that are coming in from Red Deer that are a little more specialized,” he added.

The town usually holds a community registration night twice a year, noted Williams, once in the spring at the Innisfail School Campus and once in the fall at the Innisfail Arena.

Williams noted one small change to the annual fall event.

“(It) is a little later this year. It’s been the first Tuesday of September (for several years) but it’s just too hectic we find,” said Williams. “What we really heard from a lot of people is that’s sometimes the first or second day of school on the first Tuesday after Labour Day, so this year it’s a week later and we’re hoping it’s a little less stress on families,” he added.

In addition to information on local clubs, teams, activities, groups and organizations there will also be several demonstrations that evening and a free barbecue with the Innisfail mayor and council.

“Starting at 6 p.m. there’s going to be a barbecue out front and mayor and council’s going to be there so if you have questions, there’s an opportunity (to talk) with them.

“Fall Registration Night really is the answer to what is happening in Innisfail,” Williams concluded.
