INNISFAIL - Environment Canada upgraded its special weather statement for the Red Deer - Ponoka - Innisfail - Stettler area Tuesday to a snowfall warning.
A warning is issued in Alberta when 10 centimetres (cm) or more of snow falls within 12 hours or less.
Snow will begin Tuesday evening and become light Wednesday afternoon, according to the federal agency's Tuesday morning warning. Ten to 15 cm of snow is expected.
Flurries are likely to continue through Thursday.
"Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance," the warning concluded.
Environment Canada had issued a special weather statement Monday for the area.
Meanwhile, a special weather statement is still in effect for the Airdrie - Cochrane - Olds - Sundre area due to the snow expected to fall.
Snowfall warnings are likely, the federal agency said.
