INNISFAIL - Longtime Chinook’s Edge School Division superintendent and chief executive officer Kurt Sacher has renewed his contact with the division until June 2025, officials said.

Sacher has held the top administrative position with the Innisfail-headquartered division for the past nine years, overseeing all staff.

The division completed an evaluation of Sacher and issued a release on the matter.

“Students are at the core of his efforts, of course, and he has set targeted divisional goals to ensure they succeed,” said Colleen Butler, board chair for the school division.

“The division’s goals of literacy, academic excellence, career connections, and social emotional learning have defined the work underway in our schools.

“He has championed positive relationships with staff and stakeholders, as well as the Board of Education, which allows the division to move forward in a strong and positive way.”

Numerous innovative approaches have been instituted during Sacher’s time with the division, including the Resource Allocation Working Group, she said.

That initiative revamped the methodology of allocating the division’s resources to its 43 schools in a “collaborative and transparent manner that involves school administration teams,” said Butler.

“Kurt’s greatest strength is his ability to form strong relationships and this has resulted in a network of staff structures that are a model for other jurisdictions,” she said.

“The board is proud of Kurt and know that he is an exceptional superintendent. He has worked hard to make this division well respected throughout the province, and he is a highly regarded superintendent.”

Chinook’s Edge School Division includes schools in Innisfail, Olds, Didsbury, Carstairs and Sundre.
