The town's tennis courts have just been resurfaced.
A work crew from Calgary's Tomko Sports Systems has just completed a $30,000 makeover – the first one at the tennis courts since 1999.
“Basically that cycle is nine to 11 years per cycle. They haven't been resurfaced in a while but they are in good condition,” said Terry Welsh, director of community and protective services. We are a little bit outside that cycle, a little longer than what we would have liked.”
He said it was hoped the resurfacing would be finished last week and ready for tennis players to return to action.
“I was out there last Monday and they just finished their blacktop coat,” said Welsh, adding Tomko Sports Systems also resurfaced the courts in 1999. “It is an asphalt surface and it is covered with an asphaltic compound mix. Basically the process is that they go in and they build up any depressions, seal cracks and overlay again another court surface overtop.”
