The Easter bunny, an egg hunt and joyful hope

PENHOLD - Dozens of Penhold and area families came out to enjoy Easter festivities in Penhold on Saturday.

"We're very pleased with the turnout," said Melanie Willerth, events and communications coordinator for the Town of Penhold. "It's about bringing the community together and working with the different community groups to have a place to bring your kids, have fun and to get into the Easter spirit."

The April 8 Easter celebration at the Penhold Regional Multiplex has been an annual event in Penhold for several years, noted Willerth, adding the event provided plenty of activities, Easter treats and fun for the whole family.

"Families can enjoy some free cotton candy, face painting, there's bouncy castles, the Easter bunny is here and there's an Easter egg hunt throughout the building where (kids) can find paper Easter eggs and enter to win a prize."

Willerth said the event was a successful one thanks to the great attendance by area families and the many local volunteers that pitched in to help.

"The Penhold Church of Hope is volunteering today and all of the volunteer stations are manned by them," she said. "It's really great to be able to collaborate with different community groups on our events.

"Penhold Minor Soccer is also here doing a (fundraising) barbecue in conjunction with the event," added Willerth.

Willerth pointed out other community events the town is hosting in the coming weeks, such as the volunteer appreciation night in April and a community garage sale at the end of May.

"We're trying to get more events and bring the community together more often," said Willerth. "We had the fire department come out and help with our WinterFest event, we had the church volunteer and help out with this event. We're trying to bring in different community groups to help at each event we have."
