Thursday’s fog advisory extended north to Red Deer County

Travel is expected to be hazardous March 13 due to reduced visibility in the Penhold, Innisfail, Bowden and Pine Lake areas

RED DEER COUNTY - A fog advisory issued early Thursday morning for Mountain View County has since been extended north to include parts of Red Deer County.

The special weather statement was extended north to include Red Deer County near Penhold, Innisfail, Bowden and Pine Lake.

In it’s 10: 34 a.m. March 13 weather alert update, Environment and Climate Change Canada said fog with near-zero visibility was continuing in the affected areas.

“Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

The federal agency said visibility would improve in the afternoon.

As of the time of the update, the following areas were still included in the advisory:

• Mountain View County near Sundre, Olds, Didsbury, Carstairs, Cremona and Water Valley

• Kneehill County near Acme, Linden, Torrington, Three Hills, Trochu, Carbon, Wimborne,and Huxley. 

• Rocky View County near Airdrie, Crossfield, Bottrel, Madden, Bragg Creek, Tsuu T'na, Chestermere, Dalroy, Dalemead, Cochrane, Irricana, Beiseker and Kathryn
