New ideas, new people and a new name.

The River of Life Pentecostal Church, formerly known as Parkland Community Church has been a part of the community since the 1960s.

The Innisfail church recently introduced a number of changes this year, including a new pastor in the spring, a new community connections café and now a new name.

“The name River of Life is what it's all about and what we needed. We needed a renewal and new life in the church,” said pastor Gerald Bradbury. “We started with renovations, we opened the community connections café and now we are unveiling our new name and sign.”

Church members voted to change the church name earlier this summer. The church will mark the occasion with an unveiling ceremony with special guests and a community barbecue.

“We're embracing all the new changes happening here and the new life of this church,” said Bradbury, noting their new church motto is “'real church, real people'. That motto shows people that we are real people that go through all the circumstances of life, and that creates a coming together as a real church. We want to be a church that is in the community.”

The official unveiling for the new church sign will take place on Sept. 11.

“We welcome everybody to come and see the church, the renovations and we'll have a free community barbecue,” said Bradbury.
