INNISFAIL – The town has added a new senior manager.
Meghan Jenkins, who for the last year has been the town’s manager of planning and sustainability, has been promoted to community services director, a position that has been vacant for 15 months since the departure of Michelle Honeyman in August of 2019.
With her promotion, Jenkins now joins Heather Whymark, the corporate services director and Steven Kennedy, the director of operational services as the town’s senior management team under Todd Becker, the town’s chief administrative officer.
Jenkins assumed her new role with the town on Nov. 16, with town council officially being told at its regular meeting on Nov. 23.
“The move leverages Meghan’s demonstrated skills and leadership, and aligns with the town’s commitment to ensuring organizational effectiveness and efficiency both in light of pandemic-related realities and otherwise,” said Becker.
"Meghan's ability to lead while taking on tasks of immense importance will be a tremendous complement to the role, and make her and exceptional addition to the town's senior leadership team."
He said Jenkins’ role will see her providing supervisory oversight for a number of Town of Innisfail functions, including planning and development, recreation, family and community support services (FCSS) and sustainability.
Having worked full-time for the town since September of 2019, Jenkins has worked for the municipality on a contract basis intermittently since 2012.
Since the departure of Honeyman, issues relating to the community services portfolio have been spread out among the town’s senior management team.
Jenkins has been assigned to many files, including the new skatepark, the relocation of the Innisfail Horseshoe Club facility, and she has been the town’s point person on the comprehensive Dodd’s Lake Area Community Recreation Plan.
“She definitely compliments the other two senior managers,” said Becker. “We are certainly going to continue on with her strong services to the community.”
