INNISFAIL – Council has approved the purchase of five pickup trucks for Town of Innisfail staff worth a total of more than $250,000.

At council’s regular meeting on Jan. 13, Steven Kennedy, the Town of Innisfail’s director of operations, presented two reports with motions requesting council to approve two vehicle purchases.

The first was for one 2025 1500 Silverado SSV pickup truck from Innisfail’s Palliser Chevrolet for the total price of $53,130.

The purchase will include a budget of $20,000 for additional items (emergency response lights, winch, radio, decals, etc.) to be coordinated by the town.

In his report to council Kennedy said the pickup truck will be used by a local peace officer.

The second report asked council to approve the purchase of four 2025 F150 Ford pickup trucks from Innisfail’s Fourlane Ford for the price of $203,840, not including GST.

The purchase will include a budget of $5,000 per unit for additional items (headache rack, lights, radios, etc.) to be coordinated by the town.

Kennedy told the Albertan the four trucks will replace units within the town’s operations department.

He told council that two request for quotations (RFQ) were issued in December of 2024 and that three submissions from local dealers were received for the single pickup truck for the peace officer while the second RFQ for the four trucks attracted eight submissions from both the town and across the province.

Local dealerships came out the winners in the scoring of both RFQ.

“It's nice that we have these three bids from our local dealers,” said Coun. Jason Heistad of the trio of local bids for the 2025 1500 Silverado SSV pickup truck.

Both motions for the purchases of the five trucks were unanimously approved by council.
