INNISFAIL – The town’s community services director has resigned.

The town recently accepted the resignation of Henry Wong, who served the Town of Innisfail in the position for the past three years, said a news release issued by the town on Jan. 15. Wong’s resignation was effective Jan. 11. He was not immediately available for comment.

The news release noted Wong played an integral part in the development of several key and long-standing initiatives during his tenure with the town, and leaves "with the best wishes of Administration.”

Wong was instrumental in playing a key organizational role in last summer’s successful Canada 150 community celebration at Centennial Park.

"I’d like to thank Henry for his service as the town’s director of community services,” said Todd Becker, the town’s chief administrative officer. "Henry was instrumental in a number of successful projects and events, and contributed to the community’s overall development. We wish him all the best in the future.”

Becker was not immediately available yesterday (Jan. 15) for further comment on Wong’s resignation.

The town’s news release said the organization will now seek to fill the community services director position left vacant by Wong’s departure.
