One of three men charged after a man was stabbed to death near Raven, west of Innisfail almost three years ago, has had his trial delayed.
Brent William Crouse, 47, of Calgary, faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of Sheldon Mark Hiller, 46.
Hiller's body was found in a ditch off Highway 54 on April, 16, 2008.
Crouse's Court of Queen's Bench trial was scheduled to get underway in Red Deer last week, but did not take place after his lawyer reportedly became too seriously ill to conduct the trial.
Crouse, who has been in custody since May 2008, will have a bail review on Feb. 25. A date for a new trial could be set next month.
Two other men charged in Hiller's death have already been dealt with by the courts.
Earlier this month Larry Allen Scott of Red Deer was jailed for 12 years after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.
Charles Richard Beckett, 50, also of Red Deer, pleaded guilty earlier to a charge of assessory to murder and was sentenced to time served, which amounted to about a year.
