A 35-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman have been charged after a suspect vehicle struck a police car north of Penhold on Saturday, say police.
Innisfail RCMP were conducting a patrol in the hamlet of Springbrook looking for a prolific offender from the Penhold area when members located a stolen Dodge sedan.
“When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the vehicle drove away at a high rate of speed striking a police car causing minor damage,” Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said in a release issued Monday.
“The stolen vehicle immediately became stuck in the snow where police arrested one male and one female suspect.”
The female suspect was found to be in possession of stolen credit cards and non-taxed cigarettes. She was wanted on numerous warrants from Three Hills and Red Deer.
Brandon Wallner, 35, a resident of Red Deer, has been charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, and three Traffic Safety Act offences.
He has been remanded into custody with his next court appearance set for Nov. 3, 2023 in Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
Kali Miller, 30, a resident of Trochu, has been charged with flight from police, obstruct peace officer, identity fraud, two counts of possession property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of stolen credit card, and possession of non-taxed cigarettes.
Miller was released by a justice of the peace and scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Nov. 27, 2023, and the Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller on Dec. 8, 2023.
