Police south of Airdrie has captured two men wanted by Innisfail RCMP in connection to an armed robbery in Centennial Park.

Innisfail RCMP Staff Sgt. Chris Matechuk said his detachment was notified on Nov. 5 that police in Red Deer were in pursuit of two males in a stolen vehicle who were wanted in connection to a break and enter and theft.

At about 8:30 p.m. on the same day, Mounties in Innisfail received a report of a robbery in Centennial Park, said Matechuk.

He said a male was held up at gunpoint and his cellphone was taken during the robbery.

Matechuk said a black Ford F-150 Platinum was then reported heading south on the QEII. He said Innisfail RCMP did not pursue the suspects but detachments south of town were notified.

Matechuk said at around 10 p.m. the two suspects were arrested south of Airdrie.

He said Jason Kyle Ensign, 28, of Red Deer and Mitchell Thomas Huber, 20, of Blackfalds, are facing numerous Criminal Code charges, including robbery, possession of a stolen truck and weapons offences.

Matechuk said the pair were taken before a justice of the peace but the outcome of the hearing was not available at press time.
